Edgesource Donates $2 Million in Counter-SUAS Systems to Ukraine

ALEXANDRIA, Va.— Edgesource Corp. , a small business delivering innovative solutions to the public sector, announced Jan. 23 that in 2022 it donated approximately $2 million worth of Windtalker counter-small unmanned aircraft system technology and the centralized Dowding common operating platform to the Ukrainian army. The Windtalker solution detects and locates drones, their pilots, and more, within a range of 35-plus kilometers. Windtalker deploys in 30 minutes or less and can gather more than 30 data fields, including serial number, drone location, home location, operator location, flight path, velocity and altitude. The Dowding system provides a single-pane operating platform that quickly and securely displays and analyzes sUAS activity and creates real-time intelligence reports. XTEND Awarded $20M Contract for Multi- Drone Operating System

TEL AVIV and WASHINGTON, DC—XTEND, the developer of XOS, a human-guided autonomous operating system, has been awarded a $20 million contract by the Israel Ministry of Defense to develop and supply what the company calls a first-of-its-kind multi-drone operating system. The new joint project with MAFAT (Israel’s Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technologial Infrastructure) and the Israeli MoD’s Directorate of Defense Research & Development will see XOS enable the remote, safe, and intuitive operation of dozens of human-guided semi-autonomous drones simultaneously, using the latest virtual reality, edge processing and AI technology. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) released its investigation report ( A21O0069 ) into the August 2021 collision between a remotely piloted aircraft, commonly referred to as a drone, and a small aircraft that took place near the Toronto/Buttonville Municipal Airport, Ontario. On 10 August 2021, a Cessna 172N aircraft operated by Canadian Flyers International Inc. was on final approach to the Toronto/Buttonville Municipal Airport, with a student pilot and flight instructor on board, when it collided with a York Regional Police DJI Matrice M210 remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) operated by a pilot located on the ground and a visual observer. Following the collision, the Cessna aircraft continued the approach and made an uneventful landing. After parking the aircraft, damage on the front left cowl under the propeller was observed.
